Macro-economic Forecasting
The Department of Economy and Planning (DEP) used the MQC (Quasi-Accounting Model) on the basis of projection of GDP by supply to project macroeconomic indicators until 2020. The interest of our model, called the Model of Djibouti (MED), is to anticipate the country’s economy, project certain aggregates, analyze the sectors and evaluate it.
The purpose of this model is to enable economic authorities to know which variables are significant in order to estimate the potential revenue of the country over a given period of time as well as to analyze macroeconomic aggregates and identify potential problems. The model is based on assumptions (exogenous and endogenous) on the four main accounts namely: the public finance sector, the real sector, the balance of payments and the currency.
- Preparation of an annual report on the economic and social situation of Djibouti
The annual report on the economic and social situation of the country is the study of the economic situation of the country during one year. In contrast to the economic outlook, this report includes the progress made in the social sectors. It also includes the study of a topical theme.
- Preparation of a quarterly economic report
Management will continue to produce the economic outlook note, which is a quarterly report on the economic situation. It has two main parts namely, The international situation and the national situation.
- Development of a dashboard of monthly economic data
The dashboard is a tool that recents all statistical data monthly, quarterly and annually. A new dashboard was made by the team of the direction of the Economy and the latter allows us to have a good readability and clarity of the statistical data. This tool will be available at the end of each month for the data of the past month.
